In 06th September, 2021-BPNG and Mama Bank launch “Palm Saver” investment product for Oil Palm Growers,Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea – Women’s Micro Bank Limited (WMB), branded as Mama Bank in conjunction with the Bank of Papua New Guinea has created an innovative investment product for the Oil Palm Growers of West New Britain Province. The lede from a Memorandum of Agreement signed between Mama Bank and the West New Britain Provincial Government to provide financial service to the province particularly the Oil Palm Grower. AT the turn of the millennium, Indian IT specialists were flocking to America in search of careers and startups.
Many had gone there and more would have followed had it not been for 9/11 which meant their American dream had been shattered before it began – in the fall of the twin towers of the World Trade Centre. Among that group was a young Gunanidhi Das, the current chief executive officer of the PNG Women’s Micro Bank, branded as Mama Bank.

-In May-2021- The Women’s Micro Bank (Mama Bank) -Partners with Digicel as CellMoni Agent in Maprik District, to offer deposit and withdrawal services to customers, WMB Operation Manager -Rex Noga said WMB would help the strategy to digits this service’s an opportunity to transform its customer from traditional banking to e-wallet, Mr Noga said the four branches in Port Moresby, Lae, Wewak and Maprik had begun the CellMoni deposit and withdrawal services, The reception to CellMoni in the branches has been overwhelming”he said, ” The Digicel CellMoni agent manager Ms Hane Toua said CellMoni had established over 1,200 agent outlets throughout the country and the new venture would provide more access points for CellMonie customers and an opportunity for these customers to look into the financial products by WMB, Toua said CellMonie customers could user their CellMonie to send money to friends and family who were also registered users of CellMoni, purchase Easipay Power, Digicel TV subscriptions or buy airtime, CellMoni facilitates the use of basic financial services through mobile phone usage enabling financial inclusion to many citizens of PNG.

In -March-2021 – Women’s Micro Bank Limited branded as MAMA BANK has received a total of K2.5 Million from the Kerema District Development Authority (KDDA) to provide credit facility in the district, enabling the local people to have easy access to credit and support the district’s economic plans in empowering entrepreneurship in Kerema District.
